Reporting a Problem

Loch of Clunie, and the surrounding land, is a remote and scenic area of Scotland, but it is not without its problems. If you require assistance then some suggested guidance is detailed below.

Whilst the Loch of Clunie Preservation Group is a local organisation, it is run by volunteers and there are no resources available to deal with emergency issues.

Crime

If you witness a criminal incident, or identify that one has happened or is likely to happen, then the appropriate organisation would be the Police.  The official guidance from the Police is to dial 999 if immediate assistance is required; for example there are threats of violence or if a life is endanger. If immediate assistance is not required then the non-emergency telephone number is 101 or fill out the form which we have found can have a quicker response  https://www.scotland.police.uk/contact-us/

Wildlife Crime

If taking place and an emergency phone 999 and ask to speak to the police about wildlife crime.  If not an emergency report suspicious activity as soon as possible to Police Scotland on 101.

Helpful to them is date, time and weather conditions.  Location using What3Words App or a grid reference is helpful.  Try to have vehicle registration numbers and car details as well as descriptions of any person/s involved.

More information is available on https://www.scotland.police.uk/advice-and-information/wildlife-crime/

Fire and Rescue Service

There is no non emergency number for the fire service.  If you see a fire that is not controlled then dial 999.  This might mean you have concern about the individuals and their ability to manage the fire.  If they are drunk.  The fire is too close to tents.  There is dry ground and vegetation close to the fire which is at risk.  At a time of high wildfire risk and located where the surroundings are flammable such as dry grasses, plants and trees.  BBQ's should not be placed on the ground or their contents emptied where they could burn.  All fires and BBQ's must be extinguished properly. All contents must be removed for safe disposal.  As an example a wheelie bin was destroyed when a BBQ was left it in.  A metal bin would have been better.  https://www.firescotland.gov.uk/contact-us/

Ambulance service

In a medical emergency, when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk phone 999 https://www.scottishambulance.com/our-services/emergency-care/when-should-you-call-999/

There is a local Community First Responder for medical emergencies who has a defibrillator and the ambulance service can contact after you phone, however, they are a volunteer and not always booked on.

https://www.nhs24.scot/  Phone 111 if you think they need Accident and Emergency but it is not life or limb threatening.  This can also help if you're in mental health distress, or your GP practice, pharmacy or dental practice is closed.
