The Island "Castle"

On 4th September 1966 a farmer looking down from the Braes (hills) of Forneth saw the "castle" on fire. Two visitors to the abandoned house had lit a careless fire. Due to its location the fire service could not attend, and the building was destroyed. The ruin remains visible on the island to this day. A great loss.
